It's coming I promise.

Just a quick update to tell you where I'm at. So holiday adventure stories are coming. I have been snowed under with work and one sick Miss Midget (It seems the moment we hit the county her immune system protested).
We also have had birthdays to celebrate with My 30th happening while we were away and Miss Midget's 4th Birthday happening the week we were back.

For the Birthdays we had an afternoon tea for Miss and drinks for me (Very poor effort on my part, I was in bed by 12am, thanks to Mr E deciding it was a good idea to feed me shots - Shots are never a good idea!!!! When will I learn?).

Anyway to tide you over for a little while heres a couple that I haven't posted on Facebook - This should keep the masses happy until I can sort the rest out (Monday hopefully).

Woohoo Holiday

Woohoo we're going on Holiday.

The final countdown has began (All I have running through my head is "It's the final countdown") as we're off on Friday down to the M.I.L's house and then leaving on a jet plane to jump the ditch on Saturday to have a Austrailia Adventure (Cliche much? haha).

I'm so looking forward to it. I'm praying that it's a hell of a lot warmer there than it is here (looking at the temps it's a given yay).

I've made it to almost 30yrs old without leaving the country I can't wait to see what Australia has in store for me.

So heads up for everyone this is your official warning that I won't be on the net much come Saturday next week unless I find internet access somewhere (Not really planning on looking too hard) so both this blog and Lost in a Book will be a little quiet for at least a couple of weeks as we're gone till 25th/26th of August.

Right now to get off the computer and go continue figuring what on earth I'm packing.
According to Miss Midget she is only taking toys and her bag's all packed. When asked about her clothes she informed me that she was gonna rock around Australia in her pj's. Hmmmm something tells me this one takes after her Mummy in the fact that pj's are the most comfy thing owned :)

Take care and will talk when I get back (I'll have lots of photos to show you hehe)

Have had ideas in my head and issues getting them out.

So as you can see it's been awhile again between posts.
Between Work, Miss Midget and doing stuff around the house plus now finding this creative outlet it's not left me a lot of time to sort this out.
Have a few ideas with regards to this blog so bare with me. Unfortunately it appears to one of many ideas thats sort of in limbo at the moment.

I have all these ideas which at the moment seem like brilliant ones. My issues appear to be finding a away to get them out of my head and make them reality and also finding the time to do so.

So not a lot has been happening lately. I've been playing with my sewing machine. I'd like to think I'm getting better at sewing in a straight line with the amount of practice I have been doing lol.

Miss Midget has a appointment at Starship for her Lump on Monday. This will be interesting. We pointed out to the doctor that She's starting to complain when it's up that it's hurting so we'll see what comes of the ultra sound. They are in no hurry to operate which is good and bad. They are taking there time at finding the right approach. Because of where the lump is they have to becareful due to there being a nerve close by that if they accidently damage it then the side of her face could drop. The doctor did assure us he'd done the op many times before and has never had it happened but still needed to point out the risks to us. Made me a bit nervous. I know if she did need the op she would be in good hands. I just don't want missy to be the first it happen to if you know what I mean.
If they can't see anything with the ultra sound she'll need to be knocked out again for another MRI which will be another all day event.
Poor Kids been poked and prodded by doctors so many times in her short little life. I do feel sorry for her. She does us proud though and is always super good for the doctor and super brave.
I can't remember if I ever posted what the lump officially is so just incase I didn't it's called a Vascular Malformation (Link takes you to the Wiki Page if you wanna know more about it)

Well I'll leave ya with a few photos from the past month :)

Crafty shite and a few other things

So we made it to the end of August and now into September.
I still don't know what happened to August. It went by in a blur.
It was a busy month. We had a family friend come stay for 2wks.
We had 4 family birthdays (Mums, Dads and Mine and Miss Midget).
We had a trip to Starship for Missys lump and yeah.

So Missys birthday went really well. All projects that we had set out to do as presents for her were completed and she was thrilled.

We had to acknowlegde that Mummy and Daddy told fibs and that the "trailer shed" was really her new play house. The afternoon of her birthday was the big unveiling. Once she figured out it was for her she promptly made a little track from the house to her little house taking what ever we would let her out there. We had touble getting her in that night. She was determined she was sleeping out there lol. So 3yrs old and ready to move into her own place. I knew she was advanced for her age but that was a bit more than Mummy was going to let happen. I can't imagine it would of lasted long though given theres no power out there or even a bed for that matter :)

As for my little project I'd been working on, I managed to get that completed on the 23rd with the help of my mothers sewing machine. We ended up giving it to Missy when we went down to Auckland for the hospital trip. She seems to like it and has been playing with it a bit since then. It's a bit hard to tell if its a hit due to her having received some many other toys during the course of the week.

Have also been dying to work on a little side project that I had thought of but wanted to wait till I'd finished the house.
Tinker Bell has become a favourite in this house well at least with Miss Midget. So I found a picture online which looked pretty cool with Tinker Bell and all her fairy friends and decided I would try and make them. The last photo in the long list below will give you a indication on how I'm getting on :).

Oh also big news here. The Dummy fairy came and visited on Thursday night. I am now rather sleep deprived as it's about night 3 we're up to tonight without dummy. Miss Midget is doing well though and hasn't asked for the dummy to many times. She did say this morning she missed it though. We just gently remind her that the dummy fairy gave it to a baby that needed one as she was now a big girl and didn't need dummy. She's seems ok with this answer, I do however think she is now trying to substitute her bottle for dummy. So I guess that'll be the next to go.
We haven't been to concerned with the bottle due her food intake during the day (somedays getting her to eat anything is a mission impossible) but I'm thinking now that we will need to seriously look at the bottle as I don't particularly want to be going through this all over again in just a little while.

Anyway thats it for me. My eyes are starting to hang out of my head. I hear my bed calling my name which is a pretty good sign it's sleep time :).
Will update you all on the lump and the starship appointment another day.

Lets see why................

So lets see why I have been to busy to blog?
Well I don't actually know why. Time seems to of run away from me.
We have been sick with nasty sinus infections and all those things. Poor Miss Midget has had a bad run with it all. Thank goodness the drugs that we have for her at the moment have kicked in and are working.

Mr D and I have also been busy preparing for Miss Midgets birthday which is next month on the 28th.
Yes I know we're running early with prep but we're making a couple of her presents and are trying to give ourselves a bit of time so we're not rushing through it.

So instead of just rambling on with what we've been doing, here are some photos.
First set is Mr D's project (It will have some paintwork done by me once it's completed.
You may remember a while ago I was going on about a toy wooden kitchen for Miss Midget. Yeah that idea evolved into what you see below :)

Miss Midgets Mushroom House (in the making)
Frame's up
Frame dry now and painted
Lining is attached now.
Walls and roof are currently being painted in the garage. Will post more photos as we make progress :). Currently Miss Midget thinks Daddy is building a "trailer shed" in the back yard. Wonder how long she's going to buy that one? lol

Ok so then comes my project.

Felt Dollys and eventually a Dolly House/Bag

Didn't do to badly with my score from spotlight. This is what $17 looks like :)
So didn't really have a pattern to go by so did a bit of drawing. Started off with the one down the bottom of the picture
All cut out and half sewn up
Love the wool I choose for the hair. It's come out great
And this is how she's sitting at the moment. All I have to do is the rest of the face and sew up the back of her dress.
So all up I plan to have 2 dollys and maybe a pet (haven't decided yet). They are going to have a felt bag in the shape of a house that will have some beds in it for them (I figure this make keeping them together easier and also will be good on car trips). I have thought maybe to make the beds detachable so she doesn't have to have them in the house if she's playing with her big wooden house at home.

Anyway thats the plan. It's subject to change at the moment as all of this is being hand stitched.

Also while I'm showing photos of my creations. Heres one I made yesterday.
Meet Pandy

Ok so will try and give you updates on all these projects to let you know how we're going.

Getting rid of Dummies

So this post is about pacifiers and not stupid people just so we're on the same subject lol.
Don't want people to think my daughter keeps asking for her favourite stupid person - not that we know any.............

Anyway now that I cleared that up.

We are fast approaching Miss Midgets 3rd birthday (It's in August). Mr D and I have been talking about what to do about a certain dummy that Miss Midget is for lack of a better term addicted to and when to get rid of it.

No I know by writing about this I'm opening a big old can of worms but thats ok. I realise everyone has their own opinions on when to get rid of it and to be honest with you we had thought that we would of gotten rid of it by now.

We've been busy with trying to come up with a exit strategy for dummy for a little while now and basically we have come to the conclusion or at least I have that I need to harden up and not give in when Miss asks for her dummy and distract as much as possible. At the moment we are working on Dummy to be gone around her birthday and have been telling her "When your 3 that makes you a big girl and you don't need your dummy then and we'll have to say good bye to dummy", I think to a degree she understands but I'm also pretty sure she thinks her birthday is ages away.

To help make this good-bye process a little easier we have started with some rules.

1) If it's not bed time, no dummy. This to a degree works as long as Mummy toughens up. It worked last night :). The only time she gets dummy is right before bed time. We used to have this in place but we got a bit relaxed about it and it kind of snowballed. We'll know for next time to stick to our guns.

2) If she has a afternoon sleep at the moment we're (with the help of Nanny P) are in the process of weening her off it. So we're trying to convince her that she doesn't need it at nap time. I have yet to give this one ago myself as we only put it in place yesterday. So ask me again on Sunday evening how this plan is working lol.

Those are our major things we're working through at the moment.
With us working to the goal of it going at 3 that also brings up the debate on the date. Now I'm of the thinking that I don't really want to deal with having no dummy on the day of her birthday. By the time bedtime comes around she will of been running round like a mad thing for most of the day spoilt rotten with toys and sugar. So to me to take dummy away that day would just be plain mean (to me and to her lol).
I also think it needs to be a quiet weekend and we do it on the Saturday or even start on the Friday so that gives us 2 sleep ins up our sleeve to combat the screaming that will go with no dummy.

Yes I know there could be no screaming and it could all go really good. I'd be stoked if it did but with the attachment that Miss Midget has to dummy I'm picking we won't be so lucky.

We have been given so many interesting ideas of how to get rid of dummy. Some I'm not so sure I can go through with but some have been awesome ideas like

- The Dummy Fairy comes and takes it away
- You give your dummy to the Rubbish Bin and then you get to pick out a prize for being such a big girl.
There are a couple of others that were good but I can't remember them of the top of my head.

My daughter has a long history with Dummy.

26/11/09

As some of you know (probably most but I'm pretending people don't know me personally when I write this lol), my daughter was 3 and 1/2 weeks early when she was born. 4lb 4oz. She was just a tiny Midget back then. We stayed in the hospital for 10 days and got to bring her home finally after 10days. I think we lasted maybe 3wks at home before out of pure desperation and lack of sleep (I was having to feed her every 3hrs regardless of if she was sleeping or not because she was so little) and knowing she was not hungry etc we gave her a dummy. This dummy was a magic. I got to sleep and life was good. God forbid you went anywhere without said dummy though or you paid the price. There have been a couple of times where we had to make a emergency stops at the super markets to replace lost or forgotten dummy but we were fine with that as it brought peace and quiet and a happy child.
The dummy has had many names in our house like Gobstopper, Dumdum, Pipe (Mr D's childhood name for it) and d.u.m.m.y (spelling it out so Miss didn't know what we were talking about). It will be the end of era when dummy goes.

Well wish us luck on this new part of the adventure. At least if all goes wrong we still have blankie :)

Where has the year gone?

Well I just realized we're almost half way through this year.
If anyone knows where the first part of the year has gone please let me know as I'm sure it was only January a blink ago.

Man guess everyone is going to start with their mid year reflections and hopes for the rest of the year.
Not sure I have a lot to reflect on. Well I'm sure I do but not sure I want to do it in a public forum :).

I'm happy and thankful that my little family appear to be on track and that we are all happy and to a degree healthy (Apart of early winter sniffles and coughs - they don't count though).

I'm also thankful I have a pretty cool job that is understanding of my need to spend time with Miss Midget. As well as the fact that I can help out where I can :).

I'm super stoked that my daughter has turned back into her sweet loveable happy self instead of the poor wee poppet we had. It's good to see she's happy and she's enjoying everything again :).
I'm also super stoked she's eating her dinner to a degree again (I really hated her dinner time for a while there, still do but while we're going good I'm thankful :)).

This year has been interesting, starting off at Mum and Dad's and working our way back home. Life is funny what happens. Wouldn't have it any other way though. Learnt far to much to want to change any of it :).

It's also crazy that Miss Midget is going to be turning 3 soon. Lots of plans are going into her birthday present. So the little kitchen area I wanted to make for her has turned into a full on play house out the back. So now to actually start building the thing. This will be the fun part :). Oh and find paint for it :).
Just as we'll we're building it out of pallets so the woods all sorted. Now to see if we can build something like the picture I have stuck in my head (I blame pinterest for all the ideas I have for this thing and also my imagine. In my little picture of it it's got a porch and everything. Poor Mr D, don't think he knows what he's in for yet :)).

Alright guys, well I'm off.

Catch ya later.

Don't want to bore you

Ok so I'm not going to bore you with a "I'm a sook and I don't like winter" post. This will be my only whinge about the weather - It's been COLD!. Don't worry I knew winter was coming and it's not as if its a surprise but still don't like it  and yes I'll get over it :).

So things that have been happening? Well we're over our nasty tummy bug - YAY.
Miss Midget is pretty much back to normal with regards to eating and behavior. Still getting tired in the afternoons but thats to be expected I guess.
I haven't had a chance really to do anymore unpacking. There are some things that need to go up in the roof for storage before I can really carry on with it as some of the stuff waiting to be unpacked needs to live in the spare room which is quite full at the moment :).

So I swear there is a single bed in there......somewhere.
Other than that not a lot has been happening.
I did manage to have a nice conversation with one of the team behind Snap Guide the other day which was nice. They sent me a message just thanking me for my guides I'd and asked me if I was enjoying it.
Told them about my blog post I'd done at the start of the month and they were pretty stoked that I'd been with them pretty much since day one and had gone to a bit of effort for them :).

Have been working on a few birthday present ideas for a couple of mates. Hopefully have that sorted this week. Will post something after I've given the presents to them so as not to ruin the surprise :).

Alrighty. Will try and put The Weeklies out a little later tonight to :).

Have a good one :).

Miss Midget Birthday surprise

So had a bit of inspiration today at my friends daughter's 4th birthday.
We'd been through all the games for the midgets and just before lunch my friend and her father in-law brought in this big thing under a tarp. It stood about 1mtr something tall. The birthday girl pulled the tarp off and the look on her face said it all. Every little girls dream.

Looked a like this

So seeing this and the way every little girl there made a bee line for got me curious so asked a few questions and my friends had picked it up off trademe. They got a bargin with that they paid for it as a wooden one like this is going for anything over $150. So this got me thinking...........
Miss Midget's birthday is coming up in August that gives me and her father 4mths to get our bums into gear and figure out what we need to make one. Not sure if he realises I'm serious about this (We've been texting as he's on night shift tonight) but I plan on turning this into a little project. I figure if it's not ready for her birthday then we'll make it Christmas :).
Wish me luck people as I've not tackled a project like this in quite sometime but I am determined :).

Don't worry I promise I'll keep you all posted as to the progress :).

I just hope she likes the finished product (If it gets there lol)
